"Ilta Palestiinalle" in Helsinki

On 5 May, the event “Ilta Palestiinalle” was organised in Helsinki by the European Left Alliance (ELA), in the framework of the Justice for Palestine European Citizens’ Initiative.

The European Citizens’ Initiative “Justice for Palestine” demands the full suspension of the EU–Israel Association Agreement. Launched by ELA, the initiative has already gathered over 1.1 million signatures from citizens across Europe – a powerful democratic mandate that the European Commission and EU Member States cannot ignore.

The EU has long maintained a privileged trade and cooperation agreement with Israel, even as the evidence of systematic violations of international law, human rights, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza has become undeniable. Our initiative calls on European institutions to act in accordance with their own values and legal obligations.

This event played an important role in raising further awareness on the Justice for Palestine campaign in Finland, and to highlight our call for the full suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.
